Transitions!

In class, we made TRANSITION SHOTS! ... Which was admittedly a little harder than I thought it would be to make everything look clean- and I have experience with editing! I think it's because I need a little more practice with being deliberate in my shots and how exactly I frame them and piece them together. I think the most jarring cut is just the regular one- I couldn't find any exact way to make it look not startling... It could just be me, or it could be the way the shots are framed by themselves- I think it might be related to issues with them not lining up the way that looks nicest... But that's all part of experimentation. Thank you so much Jazmine and Cassidy for helping me out with these once again! Doing these assignments with you guys makes it a much more enjoyable experience!! Not to mention easier- the help is soooooo appreciated. (And to my brother, too, even though he's definitely not going to read this, lol) Also, my phone got knocked out of my hands fo...

Scene Analysis: Hannibal (2013)

--- During the conversation between Jack Crawford and the Italian officers, the camera angles down at Jack, while angling upwards at the officers. This shows the serious power imbalance between Jack and the officers in this situation, and shows that the officers have the upper hand while Jack is hindered from taking real action. The scene also utilizes cuts to closeups to show each character's reaction to the scene, with the surgeon showing a pained and shocked expression, Mason showing a shocked, defeated ...

Peer Review!

One of our assignments constituted us to leave comments on our other classmates’ posts- I left a comment on Jazmine’s post as well as Tuyetnhi’s. Both of these classmates in my opinion did really well not only with the camera shots and angles that they portrayed, but with their use of materials, as well. Jazmine used people as her muse, with me even helping with some of the shots she published. Since I was there with Jazmine while she took these shots, I have a more personalized experience with them- we had fun taking our shots and working with each other.  For Tuyetnhi’s, she used a plushie- an inanimate object- as the subject for her shots. It gave a character to not only her shots but the personality of the director as well. Making something inanimate have a kind of personality is a difficult thing to do in a few short clips- but I think my classmate managed to do just that! I enjoy looking at other people’s work- it helps me know where my strongsuits and my weakpoints are. I li...
