Twilight Moodboard
Hi again! For a recent assignment, we had to make a moodboard that matched the mise-en-scene for ANY movie of out choice... This is the moment I come out to you all as a PROUD Twilight enjoyer. I actually DESPISED the series before I gave it a chance, but now that I am one of the crazy teenage girl fans, I can say with pride that Twilight has one of the best mise-en-scenes ever. The entire aesthetic of the film is so alluring- ESPECIALLY the first move (Catherine Hardwicke changed lives with her aesthetic choices for Twilight, mine included.)
For my moodboard, I really wanted to tap into both the "blue filter" aesthetic and the cold warmth of forks- like Bella and Edward themselves. The blue filter comes from Catherine Hardwicke's decision to overlay a cool blue filter over everything in the first Twilight films. It gave the movie a really unique, distinct look that you won't find anywhere else- it adds to the mystery in the plot, as well, with Bella having to figure out what the Cullens are and deal with supernatural forces. I also added small splashes of red- twice with fruits relevant to the Twilight story, and once with white flowers stained red (each are refrences to twilight book covers, too- Twilight is the apple, New Moon is the flowers, and Midnight Sun is the pomegranates.) Bella herself is an avid reader, so that's why splashes of browns and lots of books are included in the moodboard. Essentially, if I saw a picture and thought "that reminds me of Twilight," then I added it to the collage.
