Final Project: Storyboard

  Recently, we had to work on creating a storyboard to represent our final project- this is how I chose to map out the scene. While I decided to go with a more visual storyboard- my brain is very visual in how it organizes things and I figured it would be best to just translate my inner storyboard to a more physical one- I also made sure to include notes and cues in writing to help specify what exactly should be going on in the shot to make things easier for me later when I translate my storyboards into a visual mini-movie. Overall, I believe that with the way I plan on shooting my film, my storyboard properly conveys the general idea I have for my two minute film. I made an extra effort to focus on details like cutting on action, as well as zooming in/out and keeping a harsh lighting. All these details I pointed out will help to really create a suspenseful feeling to my film, regardless of what changes from the basic storyboard to the final product. Mis-En-Scene : Coraline

      In class, we started to learn about mis-en-scene, and were given an assignment to discuss the mis-en-scene in any movie of our choice... I picked Coraline- that children's stop motion scary movie that gave everyone a temporary fear (or obsession with) buttons at one point. Coraline perfectly matches this season, as well- which of course I'll mention when I get to certain scenes and points I want to make!! Overall, it's one of my favorite movies- and it felt appropriate to talk about, because, not only is it the perfect fall film, it's also stop motion- which means absolutely everything in the frame is intentional- there are no accidental props or sounds, and everything is geared towards matching the story and the vibe of the overall film.     From the very beginning, Coraline gives us a very distinctly eerie, mysterious vibe. Thoughts on My Film: Introspection

  Unrelated to my CCR, I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the filmmaking process and, as a result, my film in and of itself. While my favorite part of the process was definitely editing it digitally, there were still moments where I was only motivated by the need to be done. I do think the quality of my film potentially suffered as a result of this- decisions, though thought out, maybe could have been handled with more tact and care, had I felt as passionate as I did about it in the beginning.  Honestly, it really helps me respect filmmakers on a new level. The amount that they have to manage, and the effort that some put in is something I admire especially as an artist- because filmmaking is an art, just one new to me, and one that I think, if given the chance, I could give a better shot at in the future. I take this entire experience as one of learning: I definitely have room to grow in plenty of areas, and making this film was very eye-opening in that regard. ...
